Guided Psychiatric Services is a private practice clinic located in West Los Angeles under the care and direction of Dr. Steven Khoubian, providing services both in person and via telehealth for patient convenience and flexibility.

Our approach is to ensure patients receive the highest level of care by focusing on ongoing education, collaborative care with other treating physicians, and responsiveness to our patients. We see our relationship with you as a partnership with mutual responsibilities. Sharing our medical knowledge with patients and other health providers allows us to determine the best possible course of treatment more cohesively. By working closely, we can better guide you onto a path of wellness.

INTAKE APPOINTMENT

60 minutes

We offer comprehensive psychiatric diagnostic and treatment evaluation for new patients.  These can be scheduled in person or via telehealth.

MEDICATION MANAGEMENT

30 minutes

Standard follow-up appointments may consist of talk therapy, medication adjustments, labs, and a review of medical information necessary for high-quality care.

MEDICATION MANAGEMENT + THERAPY

60 minutes

GPS offers an extended follow-up appointment for patients who are interested in pairing medication management with other therapy modalities. We see this as a cumulative effort between doctor and patient.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you take insurance?

Our office is out-of-network with health insurance.  Additionally, we are unable to see patients insured by Medicare.  However, our office partners with Reimbursify to submit superbills on your behalf if you have out-of-network benefits.  Benefits can be verified using our online tool.

What is your cancellation policy?

48 hours' notice must be given to cancel or reschedule your appointment. Late cancellations and missed appointments will incur a fee.

How do I request a refill?

Please contact your pharmacy about how many refills are left on file with them.  If no refills remain, ask your pharmacy to request electronic authorization.

How can I contact the office for a non-urgent issue?

Office staff are available via telephone, email, and HIPAA-compliant web portal.

​

What do I do in case of a life-threatening emergency?

If you are having an emergency, please dial 911 and/or go to your nearest emergency department.

STEVEN KHOUBIAN, MD

Psychiatrist

Dr. Khoubian is originally from Los Angeles and received his bachelor’s degree in biopsychology at the University of California, Santa Barbara.  During his undergraduate studies, he focused on the biology of the brain and researched how the medication olanzapine stimulates new nerve growth in the brain.  He received his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati and completed his residency at the Mountain Area Health Education Center in Asheville, North Carolina.  While there, he learned advanced treatments such as transcranial magnetic therapy (TMS) and electroconvulsive therapy (ECT).  In addition, he incorporates techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy and psychodynamic psychotherapy into his practice.  He has worked in several settings, including Cedars Sinai Medical Center and The Julian F. Keith Alcohol and Drug Abuse Treatment Center.  In his spare time, he enjoys logic puzzles, reading, podcasts, and trying new restaurants.

  • We are currently accepting new patients in person and via telehealth for California and North Carolina residents.
